With most major theme parks moving to an online website to purchase tickets, it time to dump the inventory and go with Point of Sale system that integrates into these online ticketing platforms?
Whether you are a timeshare company, vacation club, or tourist info center offering attraction tickets, these changes are coming to you if they haven't already.
These changes will leave with only a few choices:
Purchase tickets online- The idea of using several websites that offer little to no control can seem frightening. Many of the these sites offer only a username and password login for security controls. This may work OK for you if you have only one store or site that you are managing. However, if you have more than one location offering people local attraction tickets, then this idea is not appealing to you at all. While there a POS systems and processes that offer controls of inventory these will not interface into the local theme parks online ticketing system.
Develop your own interface- Whether you use your internal IT department or you are able to outsource this your POS company, this can be a very expensive and risky endeavor. Disney requires your interface to be certified with them prior to authorizing you to use it. This can take several months of development and at the end all you have is an interface to one major theme park, but what about the others.
Use a recommended provider- Voucher Snap POS (www.vouchersnappos.com) offers a Point of Sale that has been developed for the timeshare and tourism industries and have been doing so for over 20 years now. They are one of the few certified with the Disney Ticketing Interface and one of two recommended by Universal Studios. With Voucher Snap POS you not only have the interface into online ticketing interfaces but also the controls and reporting that comes with a POS designed for the tourism and timeshare industry.
Which way will you take? Will you embrace the change or run against it? Let me know what you think.
